Kirkland CERT and WASART Present CERT Animal Response Modules I & II

Monday, September 30, 2013 8:51 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, many people turned away from established shelters because their companion animals were not allowed, and we all remember the sad photos of abandoned pets struggling to survive on the streets of New Orleans.

Every family needs to prepare for disaster by setting aside food, water, fuel, and  first aid supplies.  But what about our pets?

What supplies and considerations will you need in order to care for your animals in the aftermath of a disaster?  How will you cope with loose animals you encounter in your neighborhood?  Can you tell the difference between an angry/aggressive dog and a frightened one?  Do you know how to deal with them?  What if you encounter livestock? How are animal shelters set up and operated?

The Kirkland CERT Program, together with WASART (the Washington State Animal Response Team), will present highlights from the CERT Animal Response Modules I & II on Saturday, October 19th, 2013, from 9 AM to 1 PM at Fire Station 26.  There is a $5 registration fee.

We are pleased to offer online registration and payment for this course: http://tinyurl.com/KirklandCERT. This is the first trial of our new website, so if you encounter any difficulties, contact me and I’ll refer you to our webmaster.  A mail-in option is also provided.
