The HST (Health Support Team) curriculum trains volunteers to provide support for their community through the use of psycho-education, listening, assessment and referral.  It is a way to help build resilience before and after disasters. This training builds on the Disaster Psychology concepts learned in the CERT training though you need not be a CERT to participate.

Several Kirkland CERTs have taken the "train the trainer" HST class and are looking for volunteers who would like to learn these skills so that they would be available to our community in time of need.  All materials will be provided.  The class is free.

The first session will be on Monday, October 26 from 7-9 PM.  There will be three meetings thereafter which will be scheduled at that time.

NOTE: This class was originally scheduled for the small conference room at Fire Station #21.  Due to the fantastic response to this class, we have decided to increase the class size and find a bigger venue.  We will update this description once a new location has been finalized and email all current registrants with the address of the new location.  Thank you so much for your interest in this very important aspect of disaster response!
