Disaster is an all-encompassing life experience.  Not only our physical comfort and safety are affected; our emotional, psychological and spiritual selves can experience significant trauma.

The HST (Health Support Team) curriculum trains volunteers to provide emotional and psychological support for community members through the use of psycho-education, listening, assessment and referral.   This course builds on the Disaster Psychology concepts learned in the CERT training though you need not be a CERT to participate.

Several Kirkland CERTs have taken the "train the trainer" HST class and are teaching the skills to anyone who would like to learn them and assist our neighbors in time of need.  All materials will be provided.  The class is free.

Attendance is required at all four evenings:  Mondays, February 22 and 29, March 7 and 14 from 7-9 PM at Kirkland City Hall.  The class is limited to 12 students.
