Greg Parkinson from Puget Sound Energy will teach Kirkland CERTs how to safely deal with downed power lines.  Our experience in the recent wind storm (and our very first deployment) showed us that we have some things to learn.

Learn about the correct use of generators during power outages, natural gas safety, and emergency situations involving electricity, such as downed wires, plus other topics.

  • An 8-foot display board shows power lines energized up to 12,000 volts.
  • Safety around power lines & accidents that could happen.
  • Arcs and sparks will be seen in each situation.
  • The how and why to shut off a gas meter in an emergency.
  • Questions about safety around power lines and gas will be answered.
