Community Emergency Response Training is a hands-on course taught by an instructing team of EMTs, Kirkland firefighters, and trained citizen CERT instructors. Participants will learn how to support their neighborhoods and community by preparing for and responding to catastrophic disasters when first responders who provide fire and medical services will be overwhelmed.  Personal preparedness, quick decision making skills, and rescuer safety are also emphasized.

Classes include instruction in personal preparedness, disaster medical operations, fire suppression, light search and rescue operations, disaster psychology, recognizing potential acts of terrorism, and team organization.
